Girl Guides

Senior Section

The Senior Section is a flexible, fun programme open to young women from their 14th birthday until their 26th birthday. There are a number of ways you can be involved and the opportunities are immense, from international volunteering to improving your CV.

We meet ad hoc to fit around busy schedules, and usually don’t meet over exam times. The programme is entirely flexible to fit around you.

In 2011, 8 girls gained their Chief Guide Challenge, several octant certificates (for their CV), Adult Leadership Qualification, and we currently have one girl working towards their Queens Guide Award and Gold Duke of Edinburgh award, which is available through senior section. This year we have taken a break from a regular programme as the girls moved on to University, however we still have two girls working on the programme as they work towards gaining their Young Leader Qualification.

Junior Section

Guiding is the largest youth organisation for girls in the UK to-day.....adult volunteers give on average 120 hours a year of their time
Guiding in Cullybackey has just celebrated 90 years and guides restarts on 17th September in the Church Hall on a Monday night at 7.30pm and finishes at 9pm, during school terms with outdoor activities during the summer months. Our programme is based around the five essentials which involve working in small groups, encouraged decision making and self governing, having a balanced programme, caring for the individual and sharing a commitment to our Promise.
You can join guides on or after your tenth birthday and if you are 10 by mid October you are welcome to come along and see what we do together before making the committment to join.
There is an opportunity to complete 'go for its', work for badges ranging on various themes eg football, chocolate, faith awareness, community challenges.
Every girl is offered a residential experience, the opportunity to go for international selection, complete Baden Powell Challenge, attend camps and activity days. Girls are encouraged to attend churh services and parades.
The uniform is required and annual fees are payable.
